At the beginning of this project, we started learning about different types of poetry, and varying poetic elements that would be important to understand when writing our own poetry. We learned about how meter and different styles of writing can affect how your poem comes across to others. We had a lot of freedom when it came to the topic of our poems, and lot's of time to formulate our ideas. To prepare for the exhibition we split into exhibition prep groups. The design team, the publicity team, the host and reception team, and the publishing team. We then had two weeks of project work time, which we used to prepare for exhibition and write our poems.

To start this project off, we read the book Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. This book overviewed the idea of how happiness only belongs in a utopia. My class then had a seminar concerning the book, and the many topics related to happiness that it addressed. The next part of the project included research and evidence gathering for our final product, an essay and art piece. The essay answered three main questions that we addressed in our theses, we were given complete freedom for the art piece, it just had to include a quote, and overall meaning that related to happiness. |
